Finally

Hello all - sorry for the long delay in blogging. We've been a bit busy taking over the school. See we staged a hostile takeover bid and appointed ourselves joint managers of the school. Turns out to have been a really bad idea coz we've got to work loads - bummer. We've changed alot of stuff at the school so it's on our heads if it succeeds or fails - blimey. All that means we've actually been working quite hard. Haven't left beautiful Dohuk for a month. The boss is in England at the mo so we're working up the courage to nick his car today and head to the mountains. Some things that have been happening recently:

Adrienne made an advert for local TV and is now famous throughout the city - she had to do some acting and boy was it ever funny - sooooo cheesy. I actually couldn't watch as I was laughing so hard it put the "actors" off. I'm working on securing a copy of it so I can post on youtube - stay tuned!

We're living with Oompa-Loompas. It's great. There's 3 Indonesian girls living here as the boss is away. They do all the cleaning and cooking which is making us very lazy, and they are VERY funny. They are exactly like Willie Wonkas helpers and if you get on the wrong side of them I expect you'll end up like Augustus Gloop. I'd forgotten how short Indonesians are...

We've become exclusive rich high fliers and have joined the newly opened gym/swimming pool - officially the most expensive swim ever but well worth it when it's over 100 every day outside. We finish teaching at 9.30 and head straight there for a swim - very nice.

I've become a gangster. I recieved $10,000 in cash the other day to put in the safe - had to count it on the kitchen table. Adrienne was my bodyguard but no shit went down (maybe slightly exaggerating the circumstances but there really was 10,000 on the table!) no banks here see. Everythings cash and you regularly see people pull out wads of hundreds from their pockets.

Iraq won the Asia cup in football and everyone went mad - it wasn't like the pictures you see of Baghdad where everyone is firing guns and mental (it's against the law to do that here) but we did still hear some gunfire and you couldn't move on the streets - everyone was very excited!

Thats about all for now. Take care all,

Alex
